Distressed jeans have been the go to style for jeans for the past year or so, but no one can deny old trends are making a comeback. You can see references to the 90’s, 80’s, and even 70’s if you know what you’re looking for. The vintage style is so in right now, and I finally decided to invest in some mom/boyfriend jeans.
I have never owned a pair of jeans like this, and oh my goodness how freeing it can be. These are extremely distressed mom jeans and I ordered in a size medium when I think I should have gotten a small. But oversized is the whole point right? So since these pants are so big, to keep the outfit balanced I decided to wear a tight sweater tucked in.
Even though these are described as mom jeans, I think they’re a cross between mom and boyfriend jeans. How ironic that my mom actually hates these jeans. There are important differences between the mom jeans and boyfriend jeans.
Mom jeans: usually high waisted (most flattering) with a form fitting waist, loose pant, and tightened at the ankle. The automatic indication of a mom jean is the light wash. These go best with cropped anything.
Boyfriend jeans: any rise of these can work depending on your unique beautiful body, baggy, and medium to dark wash color. These style jeans go best with slim fitting tops or hoodies, (like the ones we steal from our bf anyways)

Honestly, I like these baggy pants as alternative to skinny jeans. This look above gives me 80’s vibes but you can easily use these jeans to create a grungy or casual look. Recently I’ve been seeing these type of pants styled with heels which is so cute and different, but I don’t think I have the guts for that yet. I’m also thinking about layering a simple color or fishnet tights underneath, which totally brings me back to 8th grade. Have fun with these jeans, this fall season is all about being comfy!
