November Ipsy Unboxing (Plus mini faves)

November Ipsy Unboxing (Plus mini faves)

It’s that time of the month again to do an Ipsy unboxing. I also figured since this is the last Wednesday of the month, it would be appropriate to tie in some monthly favorites for y’all, since I have a completely different type of post planned for Friday. It’s a small little favorites mention, but I thought they were worthy enough to share.

Jumping right into it, the first thing I pull out of my Ipsy package is the horrendous bag above. Yellow and brown combine to make this asymmetrical makeup bag. I currently am living for yellows and browns right now, but I just don’t like this bag. I never do at first, and then I surprisingly always find myself using them. I think I’m actually going to end up selling a lot of these for a garage sale we’re having soon. So if you’ve ever seen one you like, stop by my garage sale and pick one up for yourself.

Next, I reached in to find this lip balm. As I’ve mentioned before, I LOVE getting lip balms. The ones I’ve been getting from Ipsy have all turned out working really well. This one is supposed to taste like berries and wintered red algae. I don’t know what that is but it sure sounds festive. I’m excited to use this one day.

Here we have an It! Cosmetics CC+ cream. This CC cream claims to be hydrating, anti-aging, and protect from the sun. It has some pretty wild claims on the side, saying that people gave this product a good review. I think something like this would be much better for the summer time. I usually only wear BB creams anyways, so that may turn out well. I’ll keep this for the spring time since I really don’t think I’ll need its sun protecting serum or whatever until then.

Now I found this Naked Cosmetics single eyeshadow in the shade Mother Nature. It’s a really pretty purple-bluish, shimmery foil color. I’m stoked to try this out for some winter looks. Let me know if that’s something you’d like to see. I’m thinking this paired with a green and iridescent shade would look absolutely stunning.

This tiny little guy is is just a lip color in a shade I’ll never use. It’s from this brand I’ve never heard of, and it’s in this light pink that just never suits me. This looks like a glossy coral or blush tone pink. Glosses usually don’t show up well on me because my lips tend to be so pigmented. I think I’ll give this away to someone else who would probably really enjoy it.

Lastly, at the very bottom lay this gem. Tarte, my favorite, surprised me again this month in my Ipsy bag. I got an amazonian clay blush but this one is a bit dark. A color like this would be great for a very subtle natural flush. At first I immediately thought this would be much too dark for my skin tone, now that I’m looking at it again, I think it would actually be very pretty. I think I’d have to first apply this with a light hand, but it would create a pretty sunkissed look.

I wanted to include the back of the compact for you guys so you know for sure what color this is. As you can see, I got mine in the shade “feisty”. I haven’t really been feeling like my feisty self lately (although others may disagree with me), so maybe this blush will help remind me of the bad mama-jama that I really am.

Now moving on to my favorites.

Here are the few products I wanted to share with you. I only have a few because most of the stuff I’ve been using this month are the same from last month, except these three. At the top left we have my Hazelnut Cream candle. I got this at walmart for extremely cheap and it smells so good. It also is the perfect size. I like it a lot and can probably reuse the jar for something once I burn what’s left of it. On the bottom right we have some lotion. I mentioned this lotion before because I got it from Ipsy as well. It’s an intensive care lotion so it’s supposed to be super hydrating. I wanted to mention this in my favorites because I’ve been using it to help my feet. Some of you may find this gross, but I’m one of those people who suffer from dry feet. It was always something I hated and never could find a cure. Lately however, I’ve been exfoliating in the shower and then immediately applying this lotion after on the heels and balls of my feet. I’ve notice a quick, as well as a surprisingly dramatic difference in the smoothness. No more cracked feet!! I’m obsessed.

Finally, we come to this perfume. My mom bought me this perfume a LONG time ago. Like…..years ago. I usually don’t wear perfume because I’m used to get the cheap kinds that only smell like anything for 5 seconds. Before recently, I always found this scent to be too mature for me. It smells sophisticated and gorgeous. I apply this in the mornings and get little whiffs of it throughout the day. I love this perfume a lot, and will be sad the day it runs out. It’s the Tommy Girl perfume, and since I got it so long ago, I’m not sure if it’s available anymore.

Thanks for reading! I hope you all enjoyed this post. See you next time,

October Ipsy Unboxing

October Ipsy Unboxing

So I know that it wasn’t too long ago that I did an Ipsy unboxing, but due to my recent blog transfer, I didn’t get much time to post content in between these posts, and I wanted to make sure I got my Ipsy post out to y’all as timely as possible.

This bag was really great. Recently, Ipsy has been doing a fantastic job with the products their delivering to my front door. Seeing that little shiny package in the mail just brightens up my whole month. And since it’s only $10 a month, I feel like I don’t even pay for it, so it’s like a randomized present.

As always, we’ll start with the bag. I got a sneak preview of the bag when Ipsy sent me a *spoiler* email. I like whatever I get to be a surprise, so clicking on the email was actually a mistake. However, the peek I got made me super excited, but it turned out even better than I thought.

Bag:

If you look closely enough, you will see the faintest hint of maroon lace layered over the maroon bag. I thought this detailing gave this makeup bag an expensive touch, with a subtle flair. This little guy is honestly the perfect size to hold all of my essentials. But here’s the best part:

Just in case you weren’t sure it was October, they added the most adorable little bat onto the zipper. I love this. I’m switching all my makeup junk into this baggy and carrying it around with me until it’s Christmas!!!

Powder:

I have watched enough Youtube beauty gurus use this stuff that I knew what it was before even reading the package. I have been wanting to invest in a pore erasing powder, (I HATE my pores), but just never have. I guess Ipsy read my mind? This product is supposed to give you an airbrushed, soft focus look. Ugh I’m so excited to try this out.

Mini Review:

Today I used the pore erasing powder to set my concealer. I was really impressed. Like, usually around my eyes and cheekbone area there’s always these large pore spots that I hate. But with this, my pores were certainly minimized. I thought my Wet N’ Wild clear powder was going to be my holy grail, but it looks like I’m going to be rolling out the big bucks to stock up on this stuff.

Skin care:

If there’s one thing you can count on getting in your Ipsy package, it’s lotion. Lotion, lotion, lotion, and more lotion. I may be complaining about it now, but just like lip balms, candles, and food, I love getting all the lotions I can get. This is an Ultra Repair Cream, intended to give hydration to dry patches. I only really tend to get extremely dry on my knees, so I don’t personally think I’d be using much of this. But I can guarantee it’ll hang out in my skin care drawer for probably the rest of my life. I have a lotion problem okay? However, I do also get dry spots on my chin and around my nostrils, so perhaps I’ll put this little fella to the test.

Now this is something I can behind. Recently I’ve been venturing down the path of scrubs due to the last one I got from Ipsy. Now every wash I use is full of exfoliates. I think it’s done the most to remove toxins from my skin.

This is a coffee scrub that is suppose to target cellulite, stretch marks, eczema, acne, and more. I’m excited to use this because I’ve always been self-conscious about cellulite and stretch marks. Like, trust me, I KNOW neither is something to be ashamed of. I KNOW both are beautiful. I just, you know, want smooth skin. And as well as acne. For some reason I’ve been getting a lot of pimples on my cheeks? But don’t worry I’m drinking more water and getting my skin care routine down. Although it says it’s a coffee scrub, it is peppermint scented. For some reason, I’m trying to get everything I use to smell the same. Right now I’m using honey shampoo and conditioner, honey lotion, and honey facial scrub. Next month I”ll be using brown sugar or maple. So I probably won’t be getting to this facial scrub until December, since peppermint reminds me of Christmas. I know that might seem weird, but that’s just me.

Nails:

Next up and yep, you already know. I’m not sure why I don’t expect to get nail polish from Ipsy ever month, but it’s cool because not too long I threw out a whole bunch of old nail polishes. Needless to say, I’m eager to rebuild my collection.

Now this product I think it a gag. It’s a charcoal polish that’s supposed to “protect against toxins/ pollutants, and restore healthy/ beautiful nails.” Um, maybe. We’ll see. I just don’t see why? I didn’t know nails got polluted. By what? Regardless, I’m gonna do a look with this and another color, and hopefully it’ll hold true to it’s claims.

The color that came was actually this pretty grey. Usually it’s like a blue or whatever, but this grey is something I can actually see myself rocking this season. I’m think I’m going to wear this for awhile. I like to pick out one color to wear for a few weeks, and I’m really attracted to this color right now. Just the perfect amount of gloom, but not dull, and definitely neutral.

Eyes:

TARTE!!!! This is not a freaking drill. I got another Tarte product?? No way. Ipsy pulling out the big guns. Last month I got a makeup forever mascara that I absolutely love for everyday looks. So I’m anxious to see how beautiful this mascara is. As my loyal followers know, I love Tarte. They are legitimately my favorite brand as of right now. So exciting!!!!!

Mini Review:

Talk about natural lashes. My mascara collection has nearly doubled in sized in about two weeks. So to say I know my mascara is becoming a huge understatement. I put this on and said “wooowww”. Natural lashes are my absolute favorite look for eyes. Tarte just simply never disappoints. I think I’m swooning.

Thank you for reading. It means so much to me, as you all know. Come back Friday for a special type of post. See you soon.

Until next time,

The BEST Autumn Eyeshadow Palettes

My favorite makeup product of all time is eyeshadow. I love creating eye looks on the daily. It’s just the route of empowerment I love to take. It’s the one thing I go into Sephora for, but leave with others too (if I can afford it). And even though I love eyeshadow year round, there is something about the fall time that really gets my creativity going. In today’s post, I’m showing you 3 looks I created combining the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette I was obsessed with last year, and the ABH Subculture palette I got the other day. And I couldn’t leave out a dark lip. To see how you can create these yourself, keep reading until the end!!

For the first eye look, I decided to go with a traditional autumn vibe and do an orange with deep burgundy. I love the way the ABH colors stand out. The deep red comes from the Shade and Light palette

Pumpkin:

The orange is just so vibrant, it compliments my eyes really well. And the lipstick I’m wearing is just a brown from a Sephora collection.

Princess Peach:

This look I got really adventurous. I used an electric pink, softened by a light brown, and my favorite part: underlined with a bold yellow. I’ve never really thought about putting a completely different color on my lower lids. I really liked this.

At first I was having so much trouble trying to get a really good look, but these colors are so nice together. I will definitely keep going with this trend. It just goes to show you that even though you’re struggling during application, you could still come out with a great look.

Medusa

I find it extremely hard to wear dark eye looks. I worry so much about having “racoon eyes”. But it’s time to get over that. And I’m loving this progression I feel happening.

The dark green blended into this brown. I was really surprised with how this shade worked into my skin. I didn’t even need to put on a transition shade. I used a light golden shade to lighten my lid, and the only shade I used for this look from the Shade and Light palette was a white for my inner eye highlight.

A look like this is completely out of my comfort zone, but this look is by far my favorite. It’s so dark but can go with so many outfits and lipstick. Greens and golds are such an iconic duo.

Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette:

Colors used:

Look 1: Succubus

Look 2: Solas

Look 3: Liberatus

ABH SUBCULTURE:

Colors used:

Look 1: New Wave

Look 2: Roxy and Edge

Look 3: Destiny and Adorn

These 3 looks are by far my favorite I’ve ever created. I really hope they inspire some of your beauty looks in season. The ABH Subculture palette was such a great buy, and I recommend it for anyone who needs diverse fall shades.

Thank you for reading. Until next time,

Emma Katy
