October Ipsy Unboxing

October Ipsy Unboxing

So I know that it wasn’t too long ago that I did an Ipsy unboxing, but due to my recent blog transfer, I didn’t get much time to post content in between these posts, and I wanted to make sure I got my Ipsy post out to y’all as timely as possible.

This bag was really great. Recently, Ipsy has been doing a fantastic job with the products their delivering to my front door. Seeing that little shiny package in the mail just brightens up my whole month. And since it’s only $10 a month, I feel like I don’t even pay for it, so it’s like a randomized present.

As always, we’ll start with the bag. I got a sneak preview of the bag when Ipsy sent me a *spoiler* email. I like whatever I get to be a surprise, so clicking on the email was actually a mistake. However, the peek I got made me super excited, but it turned out even better than I thought.

Bag:

If you look closely enough, you will see the faintest hint of maroon lace layered over the maroon bag. I thought this detailing gave this makeup bag an expensive touch, with a subtle flair. This little guy is honestly the perfect size to hold all of my essentials. But here’s the best part:

Just in case you weren’t sure it was October, they added the most adorable little bat onto the zipper. I love this. I’m switching all my makeup junk into this baggy and carrying it around with me until it’s Christmas!!!

Powder:

I have watched enough Youtube beauty gurus use this stuff that I knew what it was before even reading the package. I have been wanting to invest in a pore erasing powder, (I HATE my pores), but just never have. I guess Ipsy read my mind? This product is supposed to give you an airbrushed, soft focus look. Ugh I’m so excited to try this out.

Mini Review:

Today I used the pore erasing powder to set my concealer. I was really impressed. Like, usually around my eyes and cheekbone area there’s always these large pore spots that I hate. But with this, my pores were certainly minimized. I thought my Wet N’ Wild clear powder was going to be my holy grail, but it looks like I’m going to be rolling out the big bucks to stock up on this stuff.

Skin care:

If there’s one thing you can count on getting in your Ipsy package, it’s lotion. Lotion, lotion, lotion, and more lotion. I may be complaining about it now, but just like lip balms, candles, and food, I love getting all the lotions I can get. This is an Ultra Repair Cream, intended to give hydration to dry patches. I only really tend to get extremely dry on my knees, so I don’t personally think I’d be using much of this. But I can guarantee it’ll hang out in my skin care drawer for probably the rest of my life. I have a lotion problem okay? However, I do also get dry spots on my chin and around my nostrils, so perhaps I’ll put this little fella to the test.

Now this is something I can behind. Recently I’ve been venturing down the path of scrubs due to the last one I got from Ipsy. Now every wash I use is full of exfoliates. I think it’s done the most to remove toxins from my skin.

This is a coffee scrub that is suppose to target cellulite, stretch marks, eczema, acne, and more. I’m excited to use this because I’ve always been self-conscious about cellulite and stretch marks. Like, trust me, I KNOW neither is something to be ashamed of. I KNOW both are beautiful. I just, you know, want smooth skin. And as well as acne. For some reason I’ve been getting a lot of pimples on my cheeks? But don’t worry I’m drinking more water and getting my skin care routine down. Although it says it’s a coffee scrub, it is peppermint scented. For some reason, I’m trying to get everything I use to smell the same. Right now I’m using honey shampoo and conditioner, honey lotion, and honey facial scrub. Next month I”ll be using brown sugar or maple. So I probably won’t be getting to this facial scrub until December, since peppermint reminds me of Christmas. I know that might seem weird, but that’s just me.

Nails:

Next up and yep, you already know. I’m not sure why I don’t expect to get nail polish from Ipsy ever month, but it’s cool because not too long I threw out a whole bunch of old nail polishes. Needless to say, I’m eager to rebuild my collection.

Now this product I think it a gag. It’s a charcoal polish that’s supposed to “protect against toxins/ pollutants, and restore healthy/ beautiful nails.” Um, maybe. We’ll see. I just don’t see why? I didn’t know nails got polluted. By what? Regardless, I’m gonna do a look with this and another color, and hopefully it’ll hold true to it’s claims.

The color that came was actually this pretty grey. Usually it’s like a blue or whatever, but this grey is something I can actually see myself rocking this season. I’m think I’m going to wear this for awhile. I like to pick out one color to wear for a few weeks, and I’m really attracted to this color right now. Just the perfect amount of gloom, but not dull, and definitely neutral.

Eyes:

TARTE!!!! This is not a freaking drill. I got another Tarte product?? No way. Ipsy pulling out the big guns. Last month I got a makeup forever mascara that I absolutely love for everyday looks. So I’m anxious to see how beautiful this mascara is. As my loyal followers know, I love Tarte. They are legitimately my favorite brand as of right now. So exciting!!!!!

Mini Review:

Talk about natural lashes. My mascara collection has nearly doubled in sized in about two weeks. So to say I know my mascara is becoming a huge understatement. I put this on and said “wooowww”. Natural lashes are my absolute favorite look for eyes. Tarte just simply never disappoints. I think I’m swooning.

Thank you for reading. It means so much to me, as you all know. Come back Friday for a special type of post. See you soon.

Until next time,

Double Ipsy Unboxing

Last month I didn’t do an Ipsy unboxing because I was taking a little break, but when I came back around, I figured I’d wait to do a double. So today, I will be showing you two separate packages I received from my Ipsy subscription, one from last month and the one for this month. I’m not sure if I have a favorite out of the two, but I do know I got a LOAD of good stuff. And I got a little surprise for y’all at the end.

Last month:

As always I’ll start with the bag. When I reached in and discovered this bag I instantly smiled. I think it’s really cute, the glitter is adorable, and I love the colors. I think the shape of this bag is really unique and although there is no use for it right now, I believe I will definitely find a way to utilize it.

The first product I looked at was this facial cleanser. Y’all know how I am about my face. However, everything I’ve gotten from Ipsy that was skin care related as so far been a success. I’m excited to try this out because it’s an exfoliating cleanser, so I hope it will help me get rid of a few trouble spots. Also, it smells like honey. I don’t know if I told you this but over the summer my scent was vanilla. Perfume, lotion, leave in conditioner, everything smelled like vanilla. For the fall though, I’ve slowly been changing it to honey. Ipsy reads my mind every time.

Recently, I’ve revamped my love affair with eyeliner. Eyeliner is like an occasional thing for me. It mostly has to do with how much work goes into it. Personally, for one eyeliner look, I use 3 completely different types of eyeliners. 3! I have a gel pencil for my waterline, a stiff pen for my lids, and a brush for my wings. Writing this now I’m realizing how insane it sounds. Anyways, I’m hoping this Steve Laurant eyeliner will come through for me.

All my Ipsy items have the cutest packaging ever. I can never tell what it is though.

Here we are with another nail polish. Just like eyeliner, I’ve also recently gotten back into doing my nails. Although I love this cloudy purple, it is not fall-enough so unfortunately I will not be wearing this any time soon. It will be beautiful in the winter and spring time, but for right now, it will remain untouched.

How adorable is this? It’s like a tiny little matchbook.

But surprise!! It’s just the same old champagne color as per usual. “Shadow/luminator” yeah, yeah we know. I have soooooo many of these exact shades, I just don’t bother anymore.

Now THIS though. I pulled this out and was blown away. I’ve heard of Make Up Forever, but never had a chance to buy any products. So finding this was a nice surprise. I love how sleek the bottle is. I could keep this with me all the time.

This month:

Studs? Really, studs? I may be totally grunge. I may be into vintage. But I am NOT reviving gothic stud culture. I just can’t. I mean it is pretty cute I love the black. OKAY, I’LL USE IT!!

I assume this is a face mask. It says mask on it and that’s what it seems like to me. I like face masks, wait let me rephrase that: I like the IDEA of face masks. Face masks give the sense of “I have nothing more important to do than sit here and take care of my skin”. I ventured down the Pore Minimizing mask route a few times, which if you go deep enough in my archives you’ll find it. I wish I had that sense of relaxation. I’m getting there. Slowly. Maybe I can use this while I do other things. Hopefully, this and the exfoliating cream I got will work well together. Maybe soon I’ll have a full new skincare routine to show you.

Brushes!!!! I love brushes!!! This brush is perfect. I need all the eyeshadow brushes I can get. Building up my makeup brush collection has been really fun. I feel like I have one from nearly every brand now. This little pink and copper one will fit in my collection just fine.

Poppable, portable eyeshadow. That’s something I could get behind. I like the thought of this product, however, I hate single shadows. I could totally recommend this to someone else, but for me, I love palettes.

COLOURPOP! This is not a drill. COLOURPOP PRODUCT HERE GUYS. I have been dying to get something from Colourpop foreverrrrrrrr. And here it is. In my hands.

I bought a little eyebrow duo like this from Revlon I think, not too long ago. These little nifty guys are my favorite way to do my eyebrows by far. I’m glad I got this one because once my Revlon one is all gone, I can easily just switch over. Definitely excited to try this bad boy out.

I really like this. I love the packaging and to me, the colors of this blush are great for fall. There’s a more maroon pink and an orangish warm highlight. I’m impressed. You could easily swirl these two colors together, swipe it on your cheek, and Wah-Bam! Fall glam. And check it out:

Peach honey. Honey, honey, honey. It’s like it was destined to be. Super excited to get try this out.

And for that surprise:

I wanted to put a few of these to the test and show y’all the look I came up with. For this look I used the LUXIE brush, and it worked like a dream. It made it so easy to work with the All Star (purple) shade from my ABH Subculture palette. I also tried out the Colourpop Boss Brow, and I must say the spoolie doesn’t play around. It kind of hurt lol, but nothing to complain about. I love how it filled my brows in. I definitely need to get them shaped up. Next I used the Laurant eyeliner pen and it was much more stiff than I had anticipated. It is a very durable matte black, and it would be perfect for people who like to do tiny wings. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who is new at doing makeup because I had a pretty hard time with it. However, I think with some more use, I can really get the hang of it, which will make it perfect for everyday looks. Lastly, I tried out the Make Up Forever mascara. If you love natural looking lashes, this is the mascara for you. If you’re someone who prefers falsies, stay far far away. I put it on, and on any other given day when I wear my nuetrals, it would’ve been great. But since I was being adventurous with these colors, it just didn’t do enough for me. So I went back in with my Better Than Sex mascara to finish off this look. The lip is my Kat Von D liquid matte lipstick in the shade Lolita  (thanks Hailey).

I hope you all enjoyed this post! I love Ipsy so much. Give them a try if you haven’t already.

Until next time,

Emma Katy

July Ipsy Unboxing

It’s that time of the month again y’all. Ipsy Unboxing time!!! I am pretty late reviewing my bag for you guys, but I wanted to make sure I did. I like this month a lot, and am really surprised at how excited I am to try some of these things out. If you haven’t subscribed to Ipsy yet, you are CRA-ZAY. Okay, let’s get started.

Makeup Bag:

Isn’t this the cutest little egg you ever did see?? Apparently this little guy is a huge figure in Japan. He represents me, in my daily life. But wait, check out the back.

It has a little booty. That’s so funny! When I first got this bag I was like “huhhhhh????” But it really has grown on me since I first opened my Ipsy package. It’s just so relatable. I think I’m gonna use this as a pencil bag.

Eyebrow cream:

In a previous Ipsy package I received an eyebrow product that was a powder and wax, that I basically already had. But this one is different. I watched a Kathleen Lights video where she reviewed her Ipsy bag, and she had receives this eyebrow cream as well. She said the color was too dark for her, and the application was difficult. I trust her opinion, but I am still excited to try this out. I feel like this little guy would be great to just throw in my purse so I could do my eyebrows in the bathroom before class.

Blush triplet:

This box is the cutest. I absolutely love the design. It seems so French, or Italian, it’s just an adorable little cartoon. But wait.

The inside packaging is so cool. Raspberry Ripple, how memorable is that?! I love the dark pink. But hang on. It just keeps getting better and better.

Can we just take a minute? A moment of silence? An appreciation for this trio? LOOK AT THESE COLORS!!! AHHHH!! These are so pretty and I feel like they would read well on many different skin tones. I’m super excited about the peach in the middle, and the dark red on the right. These are going to be perfect for fall. And then the bright pink would be great in the Winter. I want to try these out but it’s just so pretty, I don’t want to mess it up, you know? It looks like somebody melted crayons into perfect squares. I’m so excited for these.

Bronzer:

I love Tarte. I feel like anyone who has ever tried Tarte loves them. So when I pulled this out I was stunned. The shimmering gold packaging isn’t even the best part. Wait for it.

BAM! Talk about bronze. This bronzer is kind of on the dark side for me, but if I would’ve had this during the summer while I was tanning, I may have been able to pull it off. Even though I won’t be able to use this product, I am still glad I got it. It will make a friend very happy.

Eyeshadow:

Okay, so I don’t know if Ipsy has a surplus of this exact same shade but by multiple brands because I swear they have sent me this color like 5 times. I love golds and champagne eyeshadows, but how many does a girl need? I thought this was a highlighter at first. So for this product I’m just kind of ehhhh, but again, it will probably make a friend pretty happy.

Lips:

Last, but never least, Ipsy sent me another lip treatment. I’m not complaining. My lips could always use the extra help. Up until this point I have never had a rose lip treatment.

I’ve had cherry, mint, bubblegum, candycane, vanilla, pretty much every other kind, but never rose. I love the scent of rose. The taste? Hmmmmm, we’ll see. I’m hopeful for this product. With Winter coming up, my short memory spand, and my clumsy hands, I will need as many chapsticks, lip treatments, lip balms, and lip scrubs as I could possibly get. Keep em coming Ipsy.

So there you have it. The month of July just got a bit better. I’m super excited for my August bag!!!

Thanks for reading. I love you guys so much!!

Peace,

Emma Katy
