The Future is Female

The Future is Female

Is anyone else noticing all this girl power out here lately? I mean, we are really blooming ladies, and it’s quite the sight to see. I love supporting my fellow female artists in their endeavors and getting inspiration from them. Today, we’re going to be talking about some beautiful, smart, and creative women, and what they’re up to. A little while ago I wrote a post about getting inspired, and wrote about some other bloggers and Youtubers in that post. I’ll link it here, for those of you that are interested.

Music:

Kailee Morgue:

I’ve been following Kailee for a long time. I found her covers on Twitter, and it’s been quite interesting watching her grow over time. She recently was signed, which is really amazing news! She showcased a little snippet of her song “Medusa” on Twitter (forever ago), and ever since then we’ve all been anxiously waiting for it’s release. The song has been completed, and I just wanted to share this piece of art with you all. Click the image above to take you to “Medusa”, the captivating lyric video.

Charlotte Cardin:

You’ve heard of Lana Del Rey. You’ve obsessed over Lorde. Now, get ready for Charlotte Cardin!!!!

Charlotte Cardin is a canadian artist. She’s 22 years old, and her voice packs a nostalgic punch. Her vocals take me all the way back to the 20’s, as if I lived there once. Her music is a mix between Jazz, Pop, and Electro. She releases music in both English and French. I love the way she uses her voice. She has a unique sound, and her lyrics are insanely poetic. My favorite songs of hers are Dirty Dirty, Big Boy, and The Kids. If you’re ever in a mood, put on Charlotte Cardin and get lost in your emotions.

Billie Eilish:

15!!!!! This honey bee is FIFTEEN YEARS OLD!!! I didn’t know this until 5 seconds ago and I’ve been geeking out about her album all morning. That just makes everything I’ve heard so far so much more impressive. She’s so honest. She’s so brutal. I love this young artist and I’m excited for her future. I know she has a lot of growing to do. Like, she’s amazing, no doubt. But she still has a lot of learning and polishing, which means there’s a lot to expect from her. Catching an artist in this stage is really hard, and I’m excited to see her blossom. Keep your eye on Billie. She’s not going anywhere, except all the way to the top.

Bloggers:

Hannah Louise

Hannah Louise is a fashion blogger who dabbles into lifestyle and all other kinds of things. She has this bright red hair I love. I found her on Instagram. Her feed is full of colors. I absolutely love how she plays with colors and silhouettes. She asked in her About page to not use her pictures without asking, so I don’t want to infringe on her request. If you’re into the city girl vibe, definitely check out her website. She has an upscale chic with a downtown play persona that only she possesses. Hannah Louise definitely knows who she is, and that kind of self awareness is really inspiring.

Morgan

I found Mostly Morgan on Youtube. She’s a fashion, travel, and lifestyle blog. What I love most about her is how she is very transparent about her blogging career. She doesn’t mind sharing her own personal tips and tricks about how she got where she is today. She’s 22 years old. She built her blog her freshman year of her college career. She has been blogging for 3 years and she now does it full time. She’s basically exactly what I want to be in the near future. So I thought I’d share her, her story, and how she’s living proof that my dream is possible. I can visualize it through her.

Kelsey Simone

Kelsey Simone is the definition of Bad and Boujee if I ever did see it. She constantly hands out tips on being a bad b*tch on a budget (always helping out her fellow female). She has the best personality. I love watching her videos because she is just adorable. I wish I knew her in real life. I’ve been watching her on Youtube for awhile, but it’s awesome to see she has a blog as well. She is also a dream come true to me. She’s really come a long way. It’s nice because you can see how much work she puts into all her videos and her blog.

I’ve just been really trying to surround myself with inspirational characters. At times, it can be easy to look at other people’s success and get discouraged. I tend to sink into this pit of “Oh, I’ll never have that.” or start to feel really negative about the person I’m watching. But truly, this only turns that negativity back into my work.

A honest example of this is some time ago, recently, I was watching Kelsey Simone. She was doing an unboxing of the PR gifts she received from beauty companies. I started to feel jealous, because obviously it would be amazing to have random makeup delivered to your door for free. I started to think about my work, and how I wished that was me. But then, I realized that Kelsey has been working at this for a long time. She’s works very hard in all the things she makes for her viewers and readers. It would be a shame if her talent wasn’t noticed. And I thought to myself “She deserves it”. Ever since then, it’s been easier for me to look at others as inspiration instead of competition. We’re all out here just trying to live our best lives. Seeing these powerful and beautiful girl bosses flooding the music, the internet, and Youtube industries just really feels my heart with hope.

Thank you for reading this post and making it all the way to the end. Please, please, PLEASE check out some of these women. They really do some incredible things and deserve the praise. This post is completely unsponsored and written from the heart. I’ve been following these women for a little time now and am so proud to have found them.

That’s all for now folks. See you again on Monday for some fashion. Don’t miss it!!

October Monthly Favorites

October Monthly Favorites

This month has probably been one of my favorite months out of the entire year of 2017. Many things have happened, and new things are on the rise. Since I’ve been enjoying the world around me so much lately, I thought I should share the things I’ve been using, watching, wearing, and doing with you. Monthly favorites is a series I want to start doing on my blog, so definitely let me know if you enjoy this post.

FASHION:

Jeans:

Lately, I’ve noticed that I run for the same pair of jeans every opportunity I get. These jeans are from Forever 21. They are high-waisted, light weight, and have a little bit of distressing down the pant. You’ve seen these before in my Fall Haul (P. 2). Click on the picture below to read that post.

I believe these are definitely a must-have, especially with the winter season approaching because you get the luxury of pants, but also the comfortable aspect of loose fitting sweatpants. Since they are high-waisted, these jeans are easy to style with sweaters and flannels.

Purse:

My next October favorite has got to be this purse my mom gave me. I absolutely love the color scheme for the whole month. It fits everything I need: my wallet, makeup bag, keys, my phone, including some extras like gum and receipts I don’t need. I usually go for neutral tone purses so they will match any outfit I happen to be wearing. What I love about this purse is the subtle purple detail. Enough to scream “FALL!!!”, minimal to go with everything.

Shoes:

Last but not least, my running shoes have had me comfy all day, nearly everyday. I got these from Walmart. I’ve been going to the gym lately and decided I needed some new workout shoes. I figured I’d pick up a cheap pair, since I’m not actually running outside or anything. Again, I usually go for neutrals with my shoes. Finding these black and white ones was perfect for me. They’re easy for me to match with any outfit, which has me wearing these to class almost every morning. I like this because it means I’m always somewhat gym-ready, and that motivates me to actually go to the gym. They also have memory foam on the bottom. They’re comfy for me to wear for long periods of time, so I like to slip these on for my day at work.

BEAUTY:

Nail polish:

You’ve seen this nail polish a few times before, and here it is again. I really do like this nail polish. I can say that it is pretty chip resistant. Also, my nails are usually quite brittle and break easily at the length they are now, but so far I haven’t experienced any hang nails. I’m still unsure about the actual restoration or protection of this nail polish, but I love it nonetheless. I thought I’d mention it again because it has become such a staple for me.

Hair Care:

Remember in my Fall Beauty Essentials post I told you that I pick a scent and stick with it. Yeah, I really wasn’t playing around. I have honey lotion, honey lip balm, honey face scrub, and now I show you honey conditioner (I also have the shampoo as well). I love this stuff to no end. It has done so much for me. My hair is incredibly softer since I started using this conditioner. It’s been easier to brush my hair, style my wavy locks, and my hair is noticeably healthier. I’m so glad I found this conditioner.

Makeup (eyeliner):

Last for my beauty favorite this month is this Steve Laurant eyeliner pen. I love this. You saw this in my Double Ipsy Unboxing post. I’m telling y’all, Ipsy stays sending out great stuff. I was unsure about Ipsy when I first started it, but I’m so glad I stayed loyal. This pen is perfect for everyday looks. It’s completely matte black, which I love. I had some trouble with it at first, but ever since I got it down, it’s been winged eyeliner ever since.

LIFESTYLE:

Candle:

This candle, as you can see, has been burning day after day after day. It’s called Purely Pumpkin, and the name is true. It’s almost gone, which is fitting since October is almost over. I got this candle from Hobby Lobby. I love the orange frosted glass, the shape of it, and the smell. Ugh, it’s so sweet. Once this candle is completely burned, I’m excited to think all the different stuff I could use it for. Who doesn’t need empty glass jars lying around? I’m thinking I could probably store some beauty products in here, or make my own body scrub to keep, or something else artsy. I love the little jar so much; I’ll figure something out.

Netflix:

Fairy Tail

Image result for fairy tail anime

Many of you may not know this, but I love anime. I have been watching Fairy Tail pretty much every evening. I’m currently watching the finale as I write this post this every second. It’s nearing the last episode of the first season and I’m filled with sorrow. I guess I’ll have to move to a different anime once I finish this 48 episode season.

Mini Review:

Characters: The main characters of the first season are illustrated above. On the right: Erza, the baddest b***h in town. She’s definitely a great feminist icon because she’s super strong, serious, sexy, and one of the best fighters all around. The flying cat is Happy. He’s my favorite. He’s definitely sassy, just like me. Then, there’s Natsu. If you’re ever in need of inspiration speech, just watch an episode of Fairy Tail. He’s the type of person that gets everyone motivated. I hope I can inspire people as much as he does. He simply never ever gives up. Next, the blonde is Lucy. She’s pretty cool. She’s nice, but she cries a lot. She’s like the little sister of the entire group. Last is Grey. Gray? Grey? I don’t know how to spell it. He’s kind of rude, but he cares about people too. Him and Natsu don’t get along. Fire and Ice, right? But they’re like brothers, so that makes it hilarious.

Story line: The story line is awesome because the show takes turns highlighting the different characters. You get to learn everyone’s back stories, which for some reason is extremely important to me. I have to know where a character came from and what they’re all about before I can care about them. Obviously I love the story. I’ve watched this so fast.

Food:

For the past month I’ve been drinking smoothies. Smoothie in the morning, smoothie in the evening. Strawberries, bananas, blueberries, yogurt, orange juice, and that’s pretty much it. I don’t add any sugars. And since when do I like orange juice? I don’t. But I can’t even taste it in a smoothie. This means I’m getting all the nutrients from foods I don’t usually consume much faster.

Having a smoothie honestly makes me feel so much better about myself. I always think “Drink your fruit, eat your veggies” because I usually have a smoothie with a salad. I wish I would’ve gotten some pumpkin puree and figured an interesting way to mix it in this October. I guess I still could. But it’s not really the same, you know?

I hope you liked my October Favorites. I’m thinking doing Monthly Favorites is a good way to recap on the things I’ve been enjoying. Thank you for reading. See you Wednesday.

Cutest Pumpkins in the Patch

Cutest Pumpkins in the Patch

As we are now stumbling onto the halfway mark of October, I decided its time to drag my adorable boyfriend along to do insanely ridiculous fall stuff. This means pumpkin patches, hiking, carving pumpkins, and maybe even picking apples if we get the opportunity. This past weekend we revisited a little pumpkin patch area, took plenty of pictures, and I wore a pretty cute outfit that I wanted to share with all of you.

As you arrive at Ellis Pottery in Longview, TX, you will be greeted by this giant friendly pumpkin, (just in case you thought you were in the wrong place).

Pumpkins literally lined the entire property. I would NOT want to work in that farm. I love pumpkins,¬† but there is no way I’m washing all these bad boys. No thank you. Whoever took the time to make sure pumpkins were everywhere you could see, they did a fantastic job. I was pleasantly surprised by this place. Definitely put me in the fall mood.

Dakota and I had a great time here. There was a little walk way that was soooo spooky, decorated with cute Halloween decor. String lights hung all around the path, which I bet would’ve been super romantic at night. Pumpkin towers stood in random places, and if there were ever a place to have a fall photo shoot, this would be it. Maybe there will be a new lookbook or something coming out for y’all………we’ll have to see.

Besides the pumpkins, there was also plenty of flowers. They had annuals, semi-annuals, succulents, you name it. I wanted to pick me up a few but decided that my wallet deserved a much needed break. The colors and smells of this place were really something special. Such a cool little spot in our tiny neck of the woods.

These little guys had to be the most perfect pieces of nature I’ve ever seen. How is it possible to grow something that looks right off a dictionary picture? Now there were obviously plenty of perfect pumpkins, but I’m pretty sure Dakota and I were the cutest throughout the entire patch.

As far as my outfit goes, I wore a plain black T-shirt (my boyfriend’s), and some burnt orange jeans (from La’Patricia), which y’all should already know is my favorite color, and my staple black booties (JCPenny’s). An outfit like this one, that is inclusive of fall colors, is such an easy way to feel festive and trendy without going all out.

I had an absolutely amazing time here at Ellis Pottery. It was a great day we’ll never forget, and if you ever have an opportunity to go to a place like this one, definitely go. Having fun adventures such as this one makes me excited to see what else the season has in store for us.

Until next time,
