Double Ipsy Unboxing

Last month I didn’t do an Ipsy unboxing because I was taking a little break, but when I came back around, I figured I’d wait to do a double. So today, I will be showing you two separate packages I received from my Ipsy subscription, one from last month and the one for this month. I’m not sure if I have a favorite out of the two, but I do know I got a LOAD of good stuff. And I got a little surprise for y’all at the end.

Last month:

As always I’ll start with the bag. When I reached in and discovered this bag I instantly smiled. I think it’s really cute, the glitter is adorable, and I love the colors. I think the shape of this bag is really unique and although there is no use for it right now, I believe I will definitely find a way to utilize it.

The first product I looked at was this facial cleanser. Y’all know how I am about my face. However, everything I’ve gotten from Ipsy that was skin care related as so far been a success. I’m excited to try this out because it’s an exfoliating cleanser, so I hope it will help me get rid of a few trouble spots. Also, it smells like honey. I don’t know if I told you this but over the summer my scent was vanilla. Perfume, lotion, leave in conditioner, everything smelled like vanilla. For the fall though, I’ve slowly been changing it to honey. Ipsy reads my mind every time.

Recently, I’ve revamped my love affair with eyeliner. Eyeliner is like an occasional thing for me. It mostly has to do with how much work goes into it. Personally, for one eyeliner look, I use 3 completely different types of eyeliners. 3! I have a gel pencil for my waterline, a stiff pen for my lids, and a brush for my wings. Writing this now I’m realizing how insane it sounds. Anyways, I’m hoping this Steve Laurant eyeliner will come through for me.

All my Ipsy items have the cutest packaging ever. I can never tell what it is though.

Here we are with another nail polish. Just like eyeliner, I’ve also recently gotten back into doing my nails. Although I love this cloudy purple, it is not fall-enough so unfortunately I will not be wearing this any time soon. It will be beautiful in the winter and spring time, but for right now, it will remain untouched.

How adorable is this? It’s like a tiny little matchbook.

But surprise!! It’s just the same old champagne color as per usual. “Shadow/luminator” yeah, yeah we know. I have soooooo many of these exact shades, I just don’t bother anymore.

Now THIS though. I pulled this out and was blown away. I’ve heard of Make Up Forever, but never had a chance to buy any products. So finding this was a nice surprise. I love how sleek the bottle is. I could keep this with me all the time.

This month:

Studs? Really, studs? I may be totally grunge. I may be into vintage. But I am NOT reviving gothic stud culture. I just can’t. I mean it is pretty cute I love the black. OKAY, I’LL USE IT!!

I assume this is a face mask. It says mask on it and that’s what it seems like to me. I like face masks, wait let me rephrase that: I like the IDEA of face masks. Face masks give the sense of “I have nothing more important to do than sit here and take care of my skin”. I ventured down the Pore Minimizing mask route a few times, which if you go deep enough in my archives you’ll find it. I wish I had that sense of relaxation. I’m getting there. Slowly. Maybe I can use this while I do other things. Hopefully, this and the exfoliating cream I got will work well together. Maybe soon I’ll have a full new skincare routine to show you.

Brushes!!!! I love brushes!!! This brush is perfect. I need all the eyeshadow brushes I can get. Building up my makeup brush collection has been really fun. I feel like I have one from nearly every brand now. This little pink and copper one will fit in my collection just fine.

Poppable, portable eyeshadow. That’s something I could get behind. I like the thought of this product, however, I hate single shadows. I could totally recommend this to someone else, but for me, I love palettes.

COLOURPOP! This is not a drill. COLOURPOP PRODUCT HERE GUYS. I have been dying to get something from Colourpop foreverrrrrrrr. And here it is. In my hands.

I bought a little eyebrow duo like this from Revlon I think, not too long ago. These little nifty guys are my favorite way to do my eyebrows by far. I’m glad I got this one because once my Revlon one is all gone, I can easily just switch over. Definitely excited to try this bad boy out.

I really like this. I love the packaging and to me, the colors of this blush are great for fall. There’s a more maroon pink and an orangish warm highlight. I’m impressed. You could easily swirl these two colors together, swipe it on your cheek, and Wah-Bam! Fall glam. And check it out:

Peach honey. Honey, honey, honey. It’s like it was destined to be. Super excited to get try this out.

And for that surprise:

I wanted to put a few of these to the test and show y’all the look I came up with. For this look I used the LUXIE brush, and it worked like a dream. It made it so easy to work with the All Star (purple) shade from my ABH Subculture palette. I also tried out the Colourpop Boss Brow, and I must say the spoolie doesn’t play around. It kind of hurt lol, but nothing to complain about. I love how it filled my brows in. I definitely need to get them shaped up. Next I used the Laurant eyeliner pen and it was much more stiff than I had anticipated. It is a very durable matte black, and it would be perfect for people who like to do tiny wings. I wouldn’t recommend it for someone who is new at doing makeup because I had a pretty hard time with it. However, I think with some more use, I can really get the hang of it, which will make it perfect for everyday looks. Lastly, I tried out the Make Up Forever mascara. If you love natural looking lashes, this is the mascara for you. If you’re someone who prefers falsies, stay far far away. I put it on, and on any other given day when I wear my nuetrals, it would’ve been great. But since I was being adventurous with these colors, it just didn’t do enough for me. So I went back in with my Better Than Sex mascara to finish off this look. The lip is my Kat Von D liquid matte lipstick in the shade Lolita  (thanks Hailey).

I hope you all enjoyed this post! I love Ipsy so much. Give them a try if you haven’t already.

Until next time,

The BEST Autumn Eyeshadow Palettes

My favorite makeup product of all time is eyeshadow. I love creating eye looks on the daily. It’s just the route of empowerment I love to take. It’s the one thing I go into Sephora for, but leave with others too (if I can afford it). And even though I love eyeshadow year round, there is something about the fall time that really gets my creativity going. In today’s post, I’m showing you 3 looks I created combining the Kat Von D Shade and Light palette I was obsessed with last year, and the ABH Subculture palette I got the other day. And I couldn’t leave out a dark lip. To see how you can create these yourself, keep reading until the end!!

For the first eye look, I decided to go with a traditional autumn vibe and do an orange with deep burgundy. I love the way the ABH colors stand out. The deep red comes from the Shade and Light palette

Pumpkin:

The orange is just so vibrant, it compliments my eyes really well. And the lipstick I’m wearing is just a brown from a Sephora collection.

Princess Peach:

This look I got really adventurous. I used an electric pink, softened by a light brown, and my favorite part: underlined with a bold yellow. I’ve never really thought about putting a completely different color on my lower lids. I really liked this.

At first I was having so much trouble trying to get a really good look, but these colors are so nice together. I will definitely keep going with this trend. It just goes to show you that even though you’re struggling during application, you could still come out with a great look.

Medusa

I find it extremely hard to wear dark eye looks. I worry so much about having “racoon eyes”. But it’s time to get over that. And I’m loving this progression I feel happening.

The dark green blended into this brown. I was really surprised with how this shade worked into my skin. I didn’t even need to put on a transition shade. I used a light golden shade to lighten my lid, and the only shade I used for this look from the Shade and Light palette was a white for my inner eye highlight.

A look like this is completely out of my comfort zone, but this look is by far my favorite. It’s so dark but can go with so many outfits and lipstick. Greens and golds are such an iconic duo.

Kat Von D Shade and Light Palette:

Colors used:

Look 1: Succubus

Look 2: Solas

Look 3: Liberatus

ABH SUBCULTURE:

Colors used:

Look 1: New Wave

Look 2: Roxy and Edge

Look 3: Destiny and Adorn

These 3 looks are by far my favorite I’ve ever created. I really hope they inspire some of your beauty looks in season. The ABH Subculture palette was such a great buy, and I recommend it for anyone who needs diverse fall shades.

Thank you for reading. Until next time,

Drugstore Beauty Haul

Somehow I stopped buying makeup? Like when did this happen? I hit the pan of my powder? When did I go downhill? I decided that was the end of that, and thought it would be a good idea to treat myself to some little things. Summer is ending, school is starting, and that means my makeup routine and any routine in general will probably change. And plus, I just deserve a little something right now. TREAT. YOUR. SELF.

The first thing I want to talk about is dry shampoo:

I don’t really use dry shampoo. When I used to, it was always one of two things: 1) it made my roots extremely greasy 2) it made my roots look powdery. Not cute. But I know that when school starts there are going to be more times than usual where I just don’t feel like washing my hair. It’s better not to on a daily basis, and if you think that’s gross then you may not know what silky soft hair is. Anywayyyss, I mainly bought this for when the day-after-shower day has my hair looking way greasier than I thought it would the night before. I’m really excited to use this. It smells SO SUGARY GOOD. My hair is going to smell like frosting.

Next: conditioner.

You have heard me talk about this again and again. I love these little oval containers of heaven. I just wanted to mention it here because I did buy it in this haul and because I love talking about this conditioner. Still my holy grail. Great to repair hair, smells like the beach, and can be left in your hair for a little while in the shower like a mask. Good stuff.

Concealer:

I watched a Kathleen Lights “Favorite Drugstore Makeup” video before I went to the store and she talked about this Maybelline Fit Me concealer. I usually use the Age Rewind concealer, but I started running out and wanted to try something new. It’s not uncommon for the Age Rewind one to get oily on my skin and make me feel like I need to blot my face. This doesnt usually bother me, but I don’the want to have to worry about this during class. This one is buildable, easy to apply, and has good coverage. It’s also small, so it will be easy to take with me.

Foundation:

If you’ve been keeping up with me, you know that I prefer BB Cream over regular foundation. I don’t know many Wet n Wild products, so I thought I’d give their foundation a shot. This one is a good match for my skin tone. It has a weird spatula as an applicator, which I thought was gonna be strange, but it actually works pretty good. Its lightweight, and it is buildable, just like the concealer. I think this will be great for the fall/winter months. I will say that it is a kind of drying. For me, that’s great because I have medium-oily skin, so this will hopfully keep me from getting all oily throughout the day. If you like Wet n Wild and prefer buildable makeup, I would apply a moisturizer before this if you have dry skin.

The next thing is a brush!!!:

I really like brushes. I will go all out on some brushes. I will spend $20 on a brush and not be bothered. This one was probably like $2. You know E.L.F. has the hookup. I really wanted another face brush. This one is firmer than most brushes I own. I like it. I originally bought this brush for the next product I’m gonna show you, but I think I might turn this into a contour brush.

Matte Powder:

As I said earlier in this post, I hit the pan of my Covergirl face powder. Powders are essential to keeping your face, you know, just like, keeping your face….it’s important!!!! Okay?

Oh my God, I got to clean my fingernails. Ewww, I’m sorry. NOBODY’S PERFECT. Okay, back to makeup, this is my first time using a white powder, which I guess is supposed to be like translucent. I really like this. It isn’t heavy, or cakey. And I really wanted to get a powder that was the same brand as the foundation.

Eyebrows:

I’ve been trying to get an eyebrow pencil like this for a long time, I don’t know why I held off for so long. It is just so compact, I can just keep this with me. This is the L’Oréal Paris Brow Stylist Definer.

It has this nice little spoilie at the end, which is great for combing through my eyebrows. The applicator is tiny. I mean tinnyyyyyyyyy. It is also light, so again it’s buildable. It’s great for a completely natural look. Glad I bought this.

Lips boiiiiiiii:

I usually wear nudes. And I went to the store and I was looking, and I was like “I always do nudes, I don’t wanna do a nude, let’s try something new”. I know girls that wear like a shade darker or lighter than I normal “nude” depending on their skin tone and I wanted to try that out. So I picked up this one.

Really love this purple packaging.

Again, Maybelline got me on their hook. Can’t help it. This is in the shade Nude Nuance. It’s an intense cranberry. I thought this was going to read more brown, and little lighter, but it actually appears more maroon for my lips. I like it, and I will continue to use it. Colors like these are perfect for fall, so I’m happy with this buy. It’s buttery, but not like sticky. Thanks again Kathleen Lights, for the recommendation.

That’s everything I got this past trip. I got all this for under $50!!! That’s awesome. Thanks for reading, I hope you enjoyed this. See you Friday! Peace,

Emma Katy
