June Ipsy Blog

This month’s Ipsy bag was pretty good everyone. There’s a few good things I’m excited to use, and others I will definitely use, but am not necessarily excited.

First, I got this dark blue nail polish. I like the packaging of this product a lot. I think it’s sleek and pretty. The color is also something I would definitely wear in the fall/winter. Nail polishes aren’t really my thing right now, so I’m not too excited about this one.

The second thing I got, I thought was a nail polish. It looks just like a nail polish doesn’t it? Well, it’s actually a lip and cheek color. You can use it as both, a gloss and a blush. At first glance, I thought “man, really? Two nail polishes?”, because I don’t usually use nail polishes too often anymore. But taking a look again I saw “Whipped Fouette” and decided to see what this really was. Thank goodness I did. Now I’m super excited to try this out.

And just in case I don’t like the NYX thingy as a blush, they sent me this other one. I love the packaging of this little cutie as well. It reminds me of Benefit.

And I get that these are sample sizes, but I mean, come on. This is really tiny. I am pretty stoked about this color though, because I usually go for darker (more warm) blushes than bright pink ones.

Now, lotions are a weird thing for me. I love to smell them. I love to buy them. But I don’t actually use them. They just hang out around my house. I recently watched a decluttering video on YouTube  (big surprise) and this one girl was talking about how she has so many lotions, she decided she was going to use every single one of them before she bought anymore. And I thought “I’m gonna do that too.” I recently fell in love with the scent of Vanilla, so I have a Warm Vanilla Sugar lotion I’m using up right now. I’m thinking I will save this lotion for when I go through my Coconut phase. I am excited to use this though, one day in the future.

The last thing I have to show you all is this mascara. I’m very picky about my mascaras. As you can see, I’m very picky about a lot of things. I don’t know what it is but I’m so afraid of the clumpy eye look. This one is from a brand I never heard of before (which is cool because that’s what Ipsy is all about). I’m hoping that I really like this one. I also love this packaging too. And for you fellow Instagram wanna-be-famous-ers out there, the aesthetic is important, so the packaging is important.

This was everything I got this month. To be completely honest, I haven’t even started using last month’s stuff. So if you aren’t ready to have new thing everywhere, don’t do a subscription like this one. I finally got to a place where all of my things are organized better (which you will see Friday). Just a little disclaimer.

Cutest Summer Romper

Rompers have been an on going trend for awhile now. So much so, that men are catching on and slaying on the daily. Last year, I couldn’t find any rompers that I liked, but now they’re all over the place.

My favorite one that I got a few months ago (on sale), is this black towel romper with white piping. Check this look below:

(Towel sold separately –at Walmart)

I usually hate sleeveless everything. Sleeveless dresses, tops, all that, no thanks. But this romper is one of my most prized summer possesions. I’m in love with it.

I love swimming. It’s an activity my boyfriend and I do on a regular basis (when the weather calls for it). But there are many aspects of swimming I hate. I hate changing. The process of changing out of a soaking wet swim suit in a public place (if we swim at the lake) into dry clothes is a very uncomfortable experience. But, you can’t just slip on shorts or shirts over you suit without embarrassingly soaking your change of clothes. With this romper, you CAN just slip it on over your clothes, and be simultaneously cool while drying your swim suit, because it’s a TOWEL.

This is one of those clothing pieces you could see yourself living in. I probably will be this summer. I got this gem at Hollister, and like I mentioned it was on sale. So it was probably really popular last summer and I’m slow on the game. But if you can find one of these, GET IT. You will thank me. I expect a thank you card in the mail.

Thanks for reading. A huge shout out to Chesley for taking these stunning pics! You’re the best girl.

Home Decor Projects (p. 1)

This past week I have been binge watching like crazy some D.I.Y home decor stuff on Youtube. My room, as cute as it is, needs a little sum sum. A little growing up to do.

My makeup needs to be organized. My old posters need to be taken down. My shelves need to be cleared and so on. The color scheme as got to go.

Yesterday I went to a resale shop to look for some cute things to re-design. I walked around the store five times, making the total amount of time spent inside roughly an hour. Your girl was dedicated. Here’s the before pictures, and next week, I’ll show y’all the finished projects. I took these pictures and then immediately started working on them. Time just flew by, and before I knew it the day was over. I’m sorry for the tardiness of this post.

The first thing I want to show you guys is this crusty silverware tray.

This thing is wrecked. It’s a gross yellow. Dirty. Blah. Gross. I went to Walmart after going to the resale place and normal silverware trays are like 5 bucks. I got this tray for one dollar. Heck yeah baby. I bought this because I had the idea to use this to organize my makeup in my desk

The next thing I’m pretty excited about.

It’s a box!!!

It’s an old apple box. I have a habit of hording “memories” like movie ticket stubs, booklets from places like the aquarium, and other little souvenirs. Up until this point, I always put the memories into a ugly shoe box. Now I have this cute wooden box.

One of my favorite things about it is how it opens. You push the lid one way and pop it off. Super cool, in my opinion.

Next is just a normal candle stand.

I’m guessing it fell apart at some point due to the copper wire holding the base together. I got this for my more important daily makeup, to be elevated off the desk top and displayed pretty.

The best part of this whole thing is turning one object into another.

This was actually a mirror inside a picture frame. My idea for this nifty little piece is to paint the frame white, and clean that filthy mirror. I want to use it as a tray for my perfumes, or other glass pretty things.

Next this is not a transformation, but just super cute.

I’m trying to convert my room from being all colorful to a simple modern black and white, with a few accents. My boyfriend was like “oh, you’re going through that phase.” Yep, I sure am. I love the design on the candle, and think it will compliment my room nicely.

This next one isn’t a transformation either, but I hopped all over it.

I’m from New Orleans. So like, obviously I HAD to. I looked this cup up and it’s vintage!!! How cool is that? I looked up what it meant, and jiggers actually means spirits. Like to be in high spirits. This is so cool. I’m thinking of melting down some candles I already own, and pouring them into this glass, turning it into a makeshift d.i.y. candle.

One of the simplest things I purchased was this mason jar. I want to paint it white, to match my new aesthetic. I’m thinking of using it for all my makeup brushes. I have a lot of makeup stuff you guys.

There’s a few more things, and they’re my absolute favorite.

There’s this one.

And this one.

How cute are these???!!! I found these and I was like “AHHHHH”. I love these. I want to paint the frames and hang them above my bed. They’re so adorable. I know these are like something you see in somebody’s house and you’re like “??? That’s random?” It is random. But it is also super cute.

Last but not least, actually the most expensive.

I know I said modern, but I’m actually leaning more towards vintage?

This trophy is from the early 90’s. Some of you may be screaming “that’s not vintage!” And you may be right. My plan is to paint the base a matte black, turn this into a statue, and use it as a book stopper maybe. It’s by far my most favorite thing I got. Who would know you could find a super cute old trophy, and be totally inspired. I found this on my fifth trip around the store. Definitely a unique find.

Thanks, as always, for reading. I’m super excited about these projects. Growing up is hard, but you should at least enjoy the place you have to do it in. I have a feeling that spray painting, decluttering, and moving around will be happening a lot in my near future. Y’all are the best.

Peace,
