Minimal Summer Everyday-Makeup

Before I started wearing makeup, I didn’t realize how conscious you had to be about the weather. I thought it was always simple, but I’m beginning to notice that as the seasons change, my make up needs to change with it.

I feel like every month or so, I keep developing new everyday-makeup routines, and I finally found a perfect one for summer. It’s super minimalistic, extremely light weight, fast, and simple.

So here are the products I’ve been using for my everyday-makeup routine. As you can see, the pile is very small, which means it’s easy to pack for traveling, and easy to reapply when you’re done with swimming.

I actually forgot to add this little gem in the photo above. My eyebrows switch between this and another kit I have. I love how compact this one is though for this season, so it’s the one I’ve been using up. I start with filling and placing my eyebrows before doing anything else.

This next step is the newest step in my makeup routine. This is a face toner I received from Ipsy. I didn’t try using it until the past few weeks and I am obsessed with it. I put a little on to give my face a glow. Now that I’ve been using this for awhile, I notice my skin tone has reduced it’s redness, which it’s a and issue I’ve been dying to fix. I put this on to give my son a radiant glow. This means I no longer have to put on a foundation cream, so my face doesn’t melt off in the heat of day. I love this face toner, and I’m so glad I found this alternative for this hot weather.

My face toner may do its part in eliminating some of my redness, but my face still tends to cherry up in my T zone area. So concealer is a must have. I just spread this lightly under my eyes, my cheek bones, the center of my forehead, and my chin.

Then, I set my face with my covergirl powder. This really helps set the concealer and create a flawlessly smooth skin tone on my face without getting me all greasy. I love doing this because I still feel coverage, but not suffocating coverage.

I feel my best when I wear some sort of eyeshadow. Without eyeshadow I feel so exposed. Maybe it’s because the views in my eyelids are noticable. Or because I fear I always look tired. Whatever the case, I always try my best to mask these things with a touch of eyeshadow. Lately I’ve been using my Too Faced Peach palette, covering my lids like Georgia, the palest pinky shade, and going in with either Nectar or White Peach just to brighten my eyes up even more. I find these colors compliment my skin tone really well.

These are the brushes I use to apply and blend my eyeshadow. There’s a small fluffy brush and then and big fluffy brush. Although these and rent extremely key elements in my makeup toutine, I’d thought I’d share them with you anyways because I love them so much.

For mascara my current favorite is this one I got out of my Ipsy package recently. I think it creates the best natural length out of all my other mascaras. It really just tops the whole thing off. I’ve been wearing this one daily and I haven’t noticed any smudging or running. Sometimes when you wear mascara for a long period of time, you slowly begin to look like a racoon. Not with this bad boy.

Lastly, I usually top my look off with a lip gloss. This just keeps my lips moisturized and makes my natural lip color pop. Keeping it simple and natural is my whole thing right now.

I hope y’all enjoyed reading this and it helped you develop a breezy summer makeup routine of your own. This post is completely unsponsored, so all of these opinions are true. These products mentioned are really great. Take the time to check some out for yourself. Especially the face toner.

Summer Essentials

Moving right on along into summer, it’s scorching weather, and a load of new free time, a lot changes with the new season. I’ve already talked to y’all about a few key things you’re going to new for the adventurous months ahead. Today we’re going to revisit a few of those items as I go through a list of things that are essential to keep near by this summer.

1) First thing is a handy bag

My favorite makeup bag I’ve gotten recently is this ice cream one. If you read my past Ipsy Unboxing, you’ve seen this cute little guy right here. A size bag like this is perfect because it can carry many things, but can fit nicely into a tote bag or backpack.

2) All Purpose Salve

I talked about this miracle green goo once, but I thought I’d revisit it again since I believe it is such a staple for this summer. This magical stuff is a bug bite soothing, cut and scrape healing, sun screen cooling miracle. Definitely a need if you have children, or really clumsy friends.

3) Travel Size Everything

By everything I mean shampoo, conditioner, and ESPECIALLY deodorant.

With it being summer, there is no telling when the plans will suddenly change. Keeping a few things on you, even a travel tooth brush, is a good idea just in case you find yourself sleeping over a friend’s house, a little too messy and want to take a shower, or if you just want to be triple sure you smell the best.

4) Chapstick/ Lip Balm

It is so important in the summer to stay hydrated. Lip Balm plays a part in that, and also is a quick and easy way to stay looking fresh, even without makeup. I have been recently using the one above that I got from an Ipsy package as well. I use it in the morning if I simply want a glossy lip, or I notice my lips dried out over the night.

5) Socks/Undies

Sometimes when we go swimming or to the lake, our clothes get wet or dirty, and we desire new ones There have been a few times last summer where I really wanted to have a fresh pair of socks, or somebody splashed all over my dry clothes. It’s a good idea to keep a back up pair of these, just in case.

6) A Pair of Cheap Flip Flops

Okay so if you hit up your nearest Walmart there will be a giant box of these really cheap and ugly flip flops. They’re about a dollar each and will break after awhile. But hey listen, when it is 90 degrees outside and you just want to be swimming and eating, neon flip flops are perfect for beach/lake water and sand/mud. Let them break. Let those toes be free.

7) Band-aids/ First Aid Kit

It doesn’t happen often, but it sure does happen. My boyfriend had the bottom of his foot cut by a broken bottle in the lake. Depending on your adventures, so much can go wrong. It would be smart to keep a few band-aids or gauze with you to keep everyone moving and bacteria free.

8) Hair Ties and Head Bands

This last one is for girls or guys with long hair. You might think wearing your hair down at the beginning of the day, but as the temperature grows this will prove to be uncomfortable. I like to keep hair ties, put recently I’ve been using head bands to keep my hair out of my face. Keep a few on you at all times. You will thank me later.

So these are a few must haves to keep with you. I suggest on your car, if you’re usually the one driving everyone. I find myself to be the person with all the stuff. So I will probably keep this in my tote bag with my swim suits and change of clothes. I hope this little list helps your summer go more smoothly. Stay safe out there.

Beach Baddie

Alright it’s been a little while since I’ve posted a beauty tutorial on eyeshadow. Eyeshadow is my favorite part about doing my face and I usually stick to the same bleh, boring colors. But I thought I’d play around a little bit and show you all what I came up with.

I’ve mentioned summer like 500 times already and it isn’t stopping, no no no. It’s only begun. And I decided to take the inspirational season and work it into this beauty post. For the first look, we have a really simple easy to do one, and then the second is bolder and more complex.

Sandy!

Tell me about it, Stud.

This is a very bright look. To create this look I used a pale off white as a transition shade. Then I went in with a neutral (not warm) brown to darken my creases. Finally I used my eyeshadow from my Profusion palette, the shade Cleopatra, to golden up my lids. The shimmer is what reminds me of sand. I love this look for a day to the beach or lake. I always love gold, and I feel like this bright pop is perfect for the season.

Tidal Wave

This eye look was my favorite. I love how perfect I got the blue crease. It looks like a blue rainbow on my eyelid. This look is very dramatic and definitely noticable.

To create this look, I started with the same brown as before to buff out my outer corners. I used a greenish sparkley eyeshadow from the same Profusion palette called Mermaid and dragged it all along my crease. I kept it messy because I knew I’d be cleaning it up. Then, I used a STUNNING blue in the shade Genie in a Bottle from the same palette to really add a pop of color. I left my lid bare, kind of like a cut crease but different, because I loved the effect it gave to the look.

This look was made for summer nights, where ever they take you. I kept the wing small, to maintain some balance. But hey, let’s not forget about the lips.

I really wanted to have sort of a Mermaid vibe going on so I went with my metallic mouse liquid lipstick, to kind of mimic the scales on a Mermaid”s tail. Doesn’t it look so pretty with the matte blue? It really adds a mood to this look, am I right?

Thanks for reading!!! I hope you draw some inspiration from these looks. It’s so fun to play around with eyeshadows for me, so expect more of these. Happy Wednesday!!
